Sick of viruses? Now's your chance to get even!
Defend your bacteria against waves of attacking viruses, by matching their DNA sequences.
CRISPR Crunch is a free mobile game that immerses you in the wondrous world of microbiology.
The gameplay combines familiar tile-matching mechanics with an innovative scientific setting and story.
We'll be showing CRISPR Crunch at the Pocket Gamer Launchpad Event on May 20-21. It will be streaming live on Twitch, and feature "two days devoted to new game reveals, top announcements, competitions, giveaways and scorching game trailers."
And the winner is...
We're the proud winner of the PG Connect Big Indie Pitch award!

Scientists have recently discovered a new technique for editing DNA. The technique, called CRISPR, allows them to cut and paste genes at exact places in the DNA sequence.
But scientists did not invent CRISPR from scratch, they discovered it! How does CRISPR work, how did it evolve, and how can scientists use it to alter the course of humanity?
That's exactly what you'll learn when you play CRISPR Crunch.
It all starts with a virus
Viruses inject their DNA into the cells they bump into. Usually, the unsuspecting cell will reproduce the virus DNA instead of its own.
Eventually, the virus copies will overwhelm the cell completely!
But that's where CRISPR comes in...
Match that DNA
The CRISPR system can recognize DNA sequences that are specific to viruses and destroy them. In this game, that's your job!
But don't worry, gene editing has never been so simple! Just trace a path across a grid of hexagonal DNA tiles to create a DNA sequence.
If you can match the attacking virus DNA in time, you destroy the virus and keep your bacteria happy.
Unique and addicting levels
It just takes a minute to learn CRISPR Crunch, but a variety of unique and addicting levels will keep you coming back fro more.
Quick, find the sequence before it reaches the center of your cell!
Unique challenges that put the player to the test
Match a long sequence in parts, taking as long as you’d like
Stop the clock so you can think
Heal from an infection
Swap tiles in the grid

At Play Curious, we make games to discover fascinating subjects in science and technology. Read more about our team on our about page.
Our previous project was Blockchain Battle - a game to discover how the blockchain works by hacking a mysterious new cryptocurrency. It was accepted at StunFest game festival and shown at the Paris Games Week.
With this project, we are working Jake Wintermute a research biologist at the Center for Research and Interdisciplinarity in Paris (CRI) to communicate how CRISPR functions in nature and in genetic engineering.
